Meeting Theme: Managing Personal Change
Objective: to help the already integrated team to explore new ways of working together, and offer them a theme or device which would encourage communication between them.
Implementation: a one-hour session concentrating purely on the communication aspect of learning a new activity, and imparting that information to another. The whole group paired off at the start and by working together each person was able to act as teacher, student, critic, expert and novice.
Results: The one who least expected to succeed actually cracked it first and began to (relatively) smoothly juggle three balls without chasing them all over the room. Her self-esteem shot up, and her colleagues wanted to emulate her success. Everyone received a fully customized Thud Juggling Kit at the end of the session, which made a huge impact.
